Twin Cities
Described by many as Bolivia’s ‘most beautiful city and the symbolic heart of the nation’, Sucre is the constitutional capital of the country. Characterised by its beautiful whitewashed buildings, the city is home to countless churches and convents. Due to the instrumental part played by Sucre in the history of the Latin American independence movement and for the abundance of well-preserved 18th and 19th century buildings, Sucre became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
Whilst researching the city before my arrival I discovered that the city of Sucre is in fact twined with my home-city, Cardiff. These images are part of an ongoing project which will on completion, compare both cities side by side and comment upon their unexpected similarities and vastly contrasting differences.
