Chapel Porth Beach
The carolina-blue cloudless sky gave way for an effulgent sun that transformed the pale sands of Chapel Porth beach to a shimmering mirror as the persistent tide rushed in to conceal the shore. Silhouetted figures weaved through the formidable, rising waves of Cornwall’s North Coast. To the West, jagged, overhanging cliffs shaded the mussel engulfed rocks while to the East a truly and uniquely Cornish landscape stood; the old Towanroath Pumping Engine house of Wheal Coates Tin Mine clung to the cliff edge, framed against the vast expanse of the Celtic Sea.
Heading towards the North Coast of Cornwall, with windows wound down, sporting a vest top and aviators with Pirate FM soundtracking our drive- this weekend, for the first time this year, it actually felt summery. We were heading to Chapel Porth Beach, part of Cornwall I’ve never visited before. Aside from the trip being an opportunity to add to my ‘Cornwall’s Industrial Past’ images , it was a beautifully sunny day that had to be made the most of!
